Every single year, as December slowly inches forward, we prepare for holiday celebrations, delicious feasts, and quality time with close friends and family. It’s almost as if real life gets put on hold as we reflect on what the year has brought us, and we start to hope for the things we might come to find in the New Year.
Time is a funny thing. As we get older, it seems to move faster and faster. The days might feel long, but the years are short. We tick them away and mark the passage of time with birthdays, anniversaries, and of course, bringing in the New Year with old friends, new friends, and maybe a glass of champagne or two…
The definition of time is “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole,” and today, we can break up time into its parts and appreciate all the things which have brought us to this very moment.
EPIC Past
In our last post, we talked about the origin story of EPIC, and how it grew from a chance “YES” into the big house on Main Street with our delightful EPIC Community. But even in just the past year so much has evolved for the EPIC Team. For starters, One EPIC Place was able to live up to its name in a bigger way than ever before by expanding to Empower People and Inspire Change with a new building in New Paltz.
In March, we moved into the Carriage House, where wellness practitioners, tutors, and other small businesses thrive in some of our private office spaces. It has been a privilege to be a part of watching our members grow their businesses from our shared spaces to their own small offices—all while remaining part of the EPIC Community. We welcomed new faces, too, expanding our network and community.
me! I came to EPIC with a thirst for experience, a desire to meet new faces, and to feel inspired by my community. In a very short amount of time, I felt at home in the Place, where the energy is always fresh and exciting. I am given the liberty to be creative, and that creativity bounces off all the walls (kind of like we do at times… 😉 ) and stretches through the days. With the growth of our EPIC team, our reach grows too. We’ve got the womanpower to propel ourselves to greatness. We’ve got a team inspirational enough to fuel a TEDtalk.
Which brings us to our last big milestone for 2018… We put together our very first business series, The EPIC Brainery. The EPIC Brainery is unlike any other Business Series out there, because we go the extra mile to offer accountability and coaching. The intimate setting of each class allows for participants to really delve into exactly what they need to succeed.
EPIC Present
Here we are, between the holidays and New Year’s Eve, waiting with bated breath for 2018 to come to a much-anticipated close, and we find ourselves filled with gratitude. It is so easy to get lost in time. The human spirit has a tendency to harp on past mistakes and to fret and fear the future. Mindfulness is an important practice. We know. It’s something we come to often this time of year, and we are reminded once again of its necessity.
The one feeling we keep on coming back to is an overwhelming sense of thanks. Right now, as we gather with our friends and family, and we touch base with The EPIC Team, and we think of the simplicity of breath and action and a simple thing like the passage of time, we’re humbled.
People often tell us that they admire what we do because we often seem so “put together.” I can assure you personally that it doesn’t always feel that way, but we do our BEST, and when we get down to being in the moment, we’re glad that EPIC gets to touch so many people in the EPIC community. Our business model is INSPIRATION and COMMUNITY. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and all the people who have had any small part in giving EPIC its charm.

In 2019, we’re shooting for the RAINBOWS—and the stars 😉
It’s true that time never stops moving, and it’s true that time will pass whether we’re ready for it or not, but it’s cathartic to look ahead to all the things we hope will come in 2019. We’ve got big plans, and some of them are already happening!
After launching our Brainery Series this fall, we’ve got so many exciting classes coming (check out the schedule on our events page and register!) that are truly reshaping the ways we think about business. From Branding, to Marketing, to Digital Design… we’re ready to REVAMP, REDESIGN, and REIGNITE in the New Year.
But also, we’re excited to bring new faces and new businesses to our EPIC Community. We’ve got big things planned for our co-working center. Stay tuned… you’re going to want to get in on this 😉
