Jemma Schwartz is a clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher offering individual and group services to people aged 17 and up. She offers traditional talk therapy modalities as well as body based techniques of mindfulness, breath work and trauma informed yoga to cope better, increase self awareness, shed unhelpful patterns, heal, grow and thrive. She specializes in treating stress, anxiety, the impact of trauma, PTSD, depression, life adjustments, professional burnout/fatigue, pain, grief, low self esteem. Denise Summerford

Denise's Bio

Denise Summerford has appeared on Broadway in such shows as the Rosie O’Donnell/Boy George musical Taboo, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Saturday Night Fever and Grease. She has played leading roles in the Broadway touring companies of Leader of the Pack, Grease, Company and The Who’s Tommy. Denise recently received a Drama Desk Award for her work in the hit a cappella musical In Transit and was also in the original cast of the Off-Broadway musical Shout!. Regionally, she has performed at The Ford’s Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House, Trinity Rep, and The McCarter Theatre to name a few.  She is a Half Moon Theatre company member has a BFA in acting. Denise has taught master classes at the Governor’s School in NJ, SUNY NEW PALTZ, Rosie’s Broadway Kids in NYC. She also teaches acting and voice privately for adults and children and is a freelance casting director. Denise is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, SAG/AFTRA as well as the musicians union Local 802.

Jennifer has over 20 years’ experience helping people make lasting changes to their diet and lifestyle so they can improve their health. David Sterman, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™  founded Huguenot Financial Planning to fulfill a long-standing goal of empowering consumers as they prepare for a prosperous future. David believes that financial planners can be especially useful during “life change events.” These can entail a job promotion with a new salary, a growing family, inheritance, divorce, pending retirement or other such milestones in life. 

David got his career start as a Wall Street analyst. Over his career in the financial industry, he has discovered all of the ways that national Wall Street firms fail to act in the best interest of their clients. David went on to use that knowledge in service of consumers, working as a financial journalist and investment analyst for more than 15 years. Carol Lundergand

Carol Lundergan is President and CEO of CompuDat Systems, Inc., a software firm which designs customized fund and union administration software applications (“MemberTrack”) for the labor union industry. She founded the company in 2001, and the company headquarters are currently located in the beautiful “treehouse” space at One Epic @ Innis (Suite 9). In addition to MemberTrack, the company also designs customized websites for its labor union clients and for arts organizations in the community.

Carol sits on the board of several arts organizations and is an active performer in the Hudson Valley. She is a member of Kairos: A Consort of Singers, a select vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of unaccompanied choral literature from the Medieval to the present, and serves as its Secretary. She is also President of the Hudson Valley Society for Music, and she has been a soloist and member of many choral groups in the Hudson Valley and New York City.

He is a Professional Engineer with an MBA and more than 20 years of engineering experience in drinking water, sanitary sewer and stormwater utility related fields. Ted has helped many public, private and district structured utilities grow and thrive through direct engineering efforts as well as through the development of new markets, relationships and approaches to organic customer growth and utility partnerships and acquisitions. He has also helped challenging projects get across the finish line and produced continuing education materials on engineering, environmental and ethics topics. With an office now in the Hudson Valley of New York, Ted is working to bring creative engineering solutions and aggressive leadership to the region.

Wayne Pyle

Wayne Pyle is a SAG/AFTRA/AEA actor with years of experience in film, television, theatre, voice over and new media. As a working actor he brings his unique perspective on acting to actor training. He has toured with Broadway’s The Lion King, done Shakespeare at major festivals, acted on regional theatre stages, toured internationally, been on television and in new media, voiced animated characters, commercials and educational videos and has appeared in films with stars such as Linda Cardellini, John Slattery, Catherine Keener and many others. As a partner with Heidi Eklund in Hudson Valley Casting, Wayne has a unique perspective on what casting directors are looking for and helps his students find where their strengths and weaknesses are as an actor. Marika LaFemina

Marika LaFemina, L.Ac. is a certified pediatric Acupuncturist and Co-founder of Golden Light Acupuncture PC. She focuses her practice on working with children of all ages, but is also very passionate about women’s health, fertility, pre- and post-natal care and sports medicine. In addition to her training as a physical therapist in Austria, Marika spent three years studying Shiatsu massage in Melbourne, Australia and completed a 200-hrs Ashtanga Yoga certificate in Goa, India.

Born in Malaysia to a Japanese mother and an Austrian father, Marika lived in many different cities and speaks five languages. She immigrated to New York five years ago and found her soulmate and home in New Paltz. After recently giving birth to her first child, Marika is grateful to be part of the beautiful New Paltz Community.

Irene Berner

Irene Berner, CFP®, CDFA® is the founder of Berner Financial Services, a New Paltz based company that provides wealth management and life planning. Irene is passionate about educating women on financial matters in order to empower them to take control of their financial life. She has worked in the financial industry since 1986, formed her company in 1996 and is affiliated with LPL Financial, the largest independent broker/dealer in the country. She holds a B.S. in Finance from SUNY New Paltz, and is the current chair of the Business Advisory Council. Irene was the 2017 recipient for Alumna of the Year in the School of Business Hall of Fame.

She is a member of the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council. She is Past President of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Association. She was a long-time member of the New Paltz Rotary Club and served as Secretary for most of her tenure.

Irene has run 2 marathons and many half marathons, some of them to raise money for charities. Her last fundraising adventure was hiking in the Grand Canyon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in May 2012. She is the proud mother of two incredible daughters and doting grandmother of three delightful grandkids.

Kevin Borden

Kevin Borden began organizing in Missoula, Montana in 1995 with Montana People’s Action as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He was the Missoula District organizer and worked on housing justice campaigns. He also led the Bozeman and Missoula Chapter membership drives for MPA. From 1996 to 2000, he was the Lead Organizer of Idaho Community Action Network while based in Boise, Idaho. He was responsible for directing ICAN’s health care campaigns which included working with leadership from across the state to win the adoption and expansion of Idaho’s Children’s Health Insurance Program and successfully worked with leaders in Boise to win Idaho’s first-ever charity care agreement with Boise’s largest hospital, St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center. Kevin was responsible for the re-building ICAN’s chapters in 7 cities across the state, including Burley, Idaho. The Burley Chapter of ICAN became the foundational basis for a successful push to include farm workers under the state’s minimum wage law. In 2000, he worked for the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations and led their income support ‘testing projects’ which were designed to analyze the racial barriers when signing up for the Food Stamp and Medicaid programs. From 2001 to 2004, he was a National Field Organizer with the National Campaign for Jobs and Income Support (NCJIS), a sponsored project by the Center for Community Change. He was responsible for oversight of NCJIS’s direct action engagements which included actions on the Heritage Foundation, Haliburton, and a march to deliver demands to former President George W. Bush’s ranch in Waco, Texas. From 2003 to 2006, Kevin took time off from organizing to be closer to his parents and founded an environmentally friendly carpentry business. In 2007, he returned to organizing as the Lead Organizer for CCC’s Campaign for Community Values. Starting in 2012, he was responsible for putting together the initial stages of CCC’s Manufactured Home Owner Project, now known as MHAction. He currently resides in New Paltz, New York with his partner, Teresa Horgan, and spends his free time chasing around two energetic boys, Finnbar and Cormac.
